Butterfly On Morrison is located between Wanchai and Causeway Bay, with easy connections to numerous transit options, including taxis, buses, trams, MTR, and ferries. The airport express train station is just a few minutes cab ride away.
MTR
The MTR (Mass Transit Railway) is an extensive subway system connecting Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula and Lantau Island, as well as offering frequent service from Kowloon to the New Territories, and through to mainland China.
The hotel is located a moments walk from the Times Square entrance to the Causeway Bay MTR Station.
Buses
Hong Kong has an extensive network of bus routes covering virtually all areas of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Territories and Lantau Island.
Five franchised bus operators with a joint total fleet of approx 6,000 mainly double deck vehicles provide services over almost 600 routes. Services to most areas are frequent and operate from early morning to around midnight. Many routes pass through the Cross-Harbour Tunnels linking Hong Kong Island with Kowloon and cross-harbour route numbers are prefixed to identify which tunnel they use. Prefix "1" indicates Cross Harbour Tunnel, "6" Eastern Harbour Crossing, "9" Western Harbour Crossing. There are also night services to many areas which are prefixed "N".
Fares on MTR, Buses, Star Ferry, and Trams can be paid by Octopus Card (a stored value card available in all convenience stores and many other convenient locations). If using coins or notes on buses or trams, no change is given so the exact fare should be paid otherwise any overpayment will not be refunded.
Eating, drinking and smoking are not allowed on buses.
Star Ferry
An icon of the city for decades, the Star Ferry offers a leisurely 7-minute ride across the Victoria Harbour for just HKD 2.20, and the locals still take it routinely. There is one just about every five minutes, operating from early in the morning until 11pm and covering three routes: one between Tsim Sha Tsui and Central, one between Tsim Sha Tsui and Wanchai, and one between Hung Hom and Wanchai.
The Star Ferry terminal in Wanchai is approximately a 20-minute walk from the hotel, next to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Trams on HK Island
The historic double-decker tramway runs on Hong Kong Island between Shau Kei Wan and Kennedy Town, with a branch in Happy Valley. While 240,000 residents still commute by tram every day, this mode of transport has been in operation since 1904 and is a popular sightseeing attraction.
To the airport
The Central airport express MTR station and city flight check-in are located at The International Finance Centre (IFC) in Central, a few minutes by taxi from the hotel. This station provides an in-town check-in service for flights departing Hong Kong International Airport. You may also arrange a taxi or limousine service through Guest Services.
Taxis
Taxis in Hong Kong are a bargain in comparison with many other international cities. Flag fall is HKD18 for the first 2km, HKD1.50 for each 200m thereafter. The passenger must pay the harbour tunnel toll and the driver’s return fee.
